I've come to test the timbers of my heart...

Do you ever get one line from a song stuck in your head? Not because it's catchy, but because it's true? I have a line stuck in my head from this song:
"I've come to test the timber of my heart..."
tim·ber noun \’tim-bər\: material, stuff; especially : a person or type of person qualified for a particular position or status.
I think that is what we've come here to do. To see how our heart qualifies us for a position. A big position. Timber also is a nautical definition meaning a rib in a ship's frame. I picture the structure of the ship. The supporting beams. Can they hold up? Will they withstand the waves and storms? What is the timber of my heart? What will test the timber of my heart?
Things to think about.
More great lyrics:
I’ve come to test the timber of my heart
Oh, I’ve come to test the timber of my heart
And I’ve come to be untroubled in my seeking
And I’ve come to see that nothing is for naught
I’ve come to reach out blind
to reach forward and behind
For the more I seek the more I’m sought
Yea, the more I seek the more I’m sought.
I think that the real answer is that we can't do anything alone. That without help, the timber our hearts might not be enough. I don't even really think that this is what the artist is getting at in this song, I think he's talking about an actual person but I find what I want in it. This stanza sums it up:
And I’ve come to know the manger that you sleep in
I’ve come to be the stranger that you keep
I’ve come from down the road
And my footsteps never slowed
Before we met, I knew we’d meet
Before we met, I knew we’d meet
I want to be the stranger that He keeps.
