Might I Recommend...
Tuesday, May 18, 2010 I've loved old movies for as long as I can remember. Old movies and BBC movies. I'm a sucker for both. I've seen a pretty good string of old movies lately. Movies are great company for long photo editing sessions.
On Easter Morning I woke up long before I meant to. I tried to go back to sleep but I couldn't. I'm glad that I couldn't because I turned on TCM and Irving Berlin's Easter Parade was on. I LLLOOOVVVED it! I pretty much love everything with music by Irving Berlin and this was no exception. Fred Astaire and Judy Garland are amazing. I loved the costumes (I get this form my mom) and loved the music. I love me a good musical! These are songs that you'll love forever! I can't believe that I've never seen this before!
Right after Christmas I purchased a TCM Greatest Classic Movies Collection DVD featuring Katharine Hepburn. She's amazing! A Philadelphia Story was my favorite. She is such a fighter in her movies. I appreciate that she is a very strong woman but that she learned that she also needs to be loving an kind. It's a balance that I think all women are trying to find all of the time. The scene with Katharine and Jimmy Stewart (Mike) where they've been swimming and are drunk is hilarious. Good fun!
And for something totally different...Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront. Design*Sponge featured this movie in their "living in" series (see it here...you know how I like anything nautical) and I've been wanting to see it ever since. It was dark and gritty and great. I was inspired by the dark black and white cinematography and would like to try to do some photos that are similar.
So what are some of your favorite old movies?
